Ingredients
  

Potatoes and Onions
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
Cream and Seasonings
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Cheese
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Layer half of potatoes and onions, then pour half of cream mixture and sprinkle half of cheese. Repeat layers.
  3. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake 15-20 minutes until golden.
  4. Let cool briefly before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add a sprinkle of extra cheese on top before baking.
