Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream butter and powdered sugar, then add egg and vanilla.
- Mix in flour, salt, and peppermint extract; divide dough and color one half red.
- Roll into ropes, twist to form candy canes, and place on baking sheet.
- Bake 10-12 minutes, then garnish with crushed candy canes.
