Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Filling
  • 1 cup chocolate ganache or chocolate filling for thumbprints
  • powdered sugar for dusting (optional) powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light; add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
  3. Whisk dry ingredients; gradually add to wet mixture until combined.
  4. Form dough into balls, place on sheet, make indentations, and bake 10-12 minutes.
  5. Fill indentations with ganache while warm, cool, then dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Ensure not to overbake for soft centers.
