Ingredients
  

Dry ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Wet ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Icing
  • 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar for icing
  • 2 tablespoons milk for icing

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Mix dry ingredients; cream butter and sugar. Add egg and extracts. Chill dough for 1 hour.
  2. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch; cut into tree shapes. Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden.
  3. Cool cookies; prepare icing by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and green food coloring. Decorate cookies with icing and sprinkles.
