Method
- Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Cream butter and sugar, then add molasses, egg, and vanilla. Combine with dry ingredients to form dough. Chill for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out dough, cut shapes, and place on baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are firm. Cool completely.
- Decorate cooled cookies with royal icing and candies.
