Ingredients
  

Fruits and Vegetables
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 large apple, peeled and diced
Sweeteners and Vinegars
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
Other ingredients
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method
 

  1. Combine cranberries, diced apple, sugar, and vinegar in a saucepan.
  2. Add onion, spices, and salt; bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in raisins and lemon juice during the last 5 minutes.
  5. Cool slightly, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

This chutney can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week and tastes even better after a day or two.
