Ingredients
  

Potatoes
  • 2 pounds potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter
Fresh parsley for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix heavy cream, milk, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  3. Layer potatoes in a greased dish, pour half of the cream mixture, and sprinkle half of the cheese. Repeat.
  4. Dot with butter, cover with foil, and bake 45 minutes.
  5. Remove foil, bake 15-20 minutes until golden, then garnish with parsley.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use aged Gruyère cheese.
