Dough
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon anise extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground anise seeds
  • 1/4 cup milk
Icing
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/4 teaspoon anise extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and anise extract.
  3. Mix dry ingredients, combine with wet, add milk, then form dough.
  4. Shape dough into cookies, bake for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Mix icing ingredients, drizzle over cooled cookies.
