Ingredients
  

Potatoes
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
Onion
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
Heavy Cream
  • 2 cups heavy cream
Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Butter
  • 2 tablespoons butter
Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Black Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Layer half of potatoes and onions, then pour half of the cream mixture and sprinkle half of the cheese. Repeat layers.
  3. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove foil and bake 15-20 minutes until golden.

Notes

For a crispier top, broil for a few minutes after baking.
