Ingredients
  

Bread
  • 1 loaf brioche or challah bread, cubed
  • 6 large eggs eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup fresh berries (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional) powdered sugar

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch dish.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until combined.
  3. Add bread to mixture, fold in berries if using, then transfer to dish.
  4. Mix melted butter with maple syrup and drizzle over casserole.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight, then bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.

Notes

For best results, refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to meld.
