Ingredients
  

Bread and Egg Mixture
  • 8 ounces French bread (about ½ loaf), cut into cubes
  • 5 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided
  • 1 ½ tablespoons brown sugar for topping
  • Optional powdered sugar, fresh berries, maple syrup Optional toppings

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Create a caramelized layer with brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon.
  3. Layer bread cubes in a baking dish over the caramelized layer.
  4. Mix eggs, milk, vanilla, and remaining cinnamon; pour over bread.
  5. Sprinkle brown sugar for topping and bake for 45 minutes.

Notes

For extra flavor, serve with powdered sugar, fresh berries, or maple syrup.
