Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 8 oz pasta (penne or rigatoni)
Cheese
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Sauce
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
Eggs and seasonings
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Garnish
  • optional Fresh basil for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta until al dente, then drain.
  2. Mix ricotta, egg, garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper. Add cooked pasta and combine.
  3. Spread half of marinara sauce in a greased dish, layer pasta mixture, then top with remaining sauce.
  4. Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan, cover with foil, and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake 10-15 more minutes until bubbly and golden.
  5. Let cool briefly, garnish with basil if desired, then serve.

Notes

For a creamier texture, add a splash of milk or cream before baking.
