Ingredients
  

Bread
  • 1 loaf challah or brioche bread, cut into cubes
Dairy
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
Sweeteners & Flavorings
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
For Serving
  • to taste powdered sugar (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Layer half of bread cubes in dish, drop spoonfuls of cream cheese, then top with remaining bread.
  3. Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt; pour evenly over bread.
  4. Drizzle maple syrup on top, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes.
  5. Remove foil, bake 15-20 minutes until golden, cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

This casserole is best served warm with a dusting of powdered sugar.
