Method
- Cube the bread and soak in a custard made of eggs, milk, sugars, vanilla, and cinnamon for 20-30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter a baking dish. Pour the soaked bread mixture into it.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until set and golden. Let cool slightly before serving.
- For vanilla sauce, melt butter, stir in sugar, add cream, simmer until thickened, then stir in vanilla.
Notes
Using day-old bread helps absorb the custard better. Adjust sweetness to taste.
