Method
- Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cream butter and sugar, add egg and extracts. Combine with dry ingredients to form dough. Chill for 1 hour.
- Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness, cut shapes, and place on baking sheet.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes, then cool.
- Prepare royal icing by mixing powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water until stiff peaks form.
- Decorate cooled cookies with royal icing and food coloring. Let dry before serving.

Chill the dough well for easier rolling and shaping.
